Hard Histories Conversations Panel

Titled 'Hard Histories Conversations', the panel cover photo has headshots of each panelist and a shattered designed of an old photograph.

In this 2022 virtual panel discussion, historian Dr. Kim Gallon and Afro Charities Executive Director Savannah Wood discuss the history of the Baltimore Afro-American newspaper (the AFRO) and its role in reporting on politics, culture, and community news. The program is hosted by Dr. Martha S. Jones, project director of Hard Histories, an initiative established at Johns Hopkins University to explore the histories of Blackness, slavery, and racism in the Baltimore area and beyond.
