Mae Reeves, Milliner

Mae’s Millinery Shop, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was started by Mae Reeves, a hard-working and industrious milliner. Her elaborate hats drew a celebrity clientele, including Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt, Marian Anderson, and Lena Horne. Reeves was also an active member of the NAACP and transformed her shop into a polling station on election days.
