Rosa Park’s Straw Hat

Activism

1967

Rosa Parks continued Harriet Tubman’s legacy of activism. Before being the catalyst of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Parks was a voting rights activist for the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP and established the Committee for Equal Justice for the Rights of Mrs. Recy Taylor. The committee investigated alleged rapes and sexual assaults committed by white men against black women.
